At the McDonald’s Fan Zone, a free fan festival will take place during the World Juniors, in Montreal from Dec. 26-31 and in Toronto from Jan. 2-5.

The McDonald’s Fan Zone will offer hockey fans of all ages an opportunity to take part in the action of the 2015 IIHF World Junior Championship, including interactive exhibits and displays outside of the Bell Centre in Montreal, and Air Canada Centre in Toronto.

“The World Juniors aren’t just about the hockey on the ice, they’re about the experience and the atmosphere as well,” says Pat McEleney, executive director of the 2015 IIHF World Junior Championship. “We want to bring this year’s tournament to hockey fans in Toronto and Montreal, and the McDonald’s Fan Zone – open to each and every fan, whether they have a game ticket or not – allows us to do just that.”

The McDonald’s Fan Zone will be hosted both outside the Bell Centre and inside the Windsor Station building on l’avenue des Canadiens-de-Montréal in Montreal, as well as outside of the west entrance of the Air Canada Centre along Bremner Boulevard in Toronto.

“We’re proud to sponsor the IIHF World Junior Championship, helping more Canadians experience the tournament at the interactive McDonald’s Fan Zone in Toronto and Montreal,” says Michelle McIlmoyle, senior national marketing manager at McDonald's Restaurants of Canada. “This partnership builds on our 40-year legacy with Hockey Canada and our rich history of giving back to communities by celebrating the spirit of hockey with fans of all ages.”

Hockey fans do not require a game ticket in order to visit the McDonald’s Fan Zone. McDonald’s McCafe trailer will provide free McCafe coffee on site in both cities as part of its title sponsorship of the Fan Zone.

The Hockey Canada Century Tour will roll into both Montreal and Toronto during the McDonald’s Fan Zone. The Century Tour, which is criss-crossing the country to help celebrate the 100th anniversary of Hockey Canada, includes a 20,000-square-foot interactive hockey experience and provides opportunities for young Canadians to try the game and learn more about the rich history of hockey in Canada.

The McDonald’s atoMc Hockey and Équipe McDoMD (in Quebec) programs build on a 40-year relationship with Hockey Canada; it is the only hockey initiative in the country that gives participating players the opportunity to proudly wear the same Hockey Canada logo on their jerseys as Team Canada.
